The much needed long weekend

This past weekend, we had two extra days off, and it was a really nice four day weekend. On Friday, I had an interview with a researcher in bioinformatics at UNT, and it was a great interview. We discussed various different topics, including AI’s presence in the medical field, as well as some research, which included genetics and predicting AMR, or antimicrobial resistance. I enjoyed learning about it, because I had only read the abstract of the research paper before, which was just a glimpse into the entire topic. However, after discussing it during the interview, I gained a lot of insights that I wouldn’t have otherwise known about. One other thing that I really enjoyed about the interview was that when certain unfamiliar topics were discussed, he explained it in a way which was very easy to understand, through the use of analogies and other relatable examples. Looking forward, this week will be a very busy one. I have Orchestra UIL on Wednesday, and we will be playing the pieces we have practiced, as well as sight reading. I didn’t find much time to practice my violin last week during the weekdays, and I was upset with my playing abilities. However, thankfully this weekend I was able to get some practice in, and I am sounding much better than before. On that same day we have the ISM Research Showcase. I am super excited, because last year we didn’t get to have a showcase, but this year we will! I also have some quizzes and tests over the next couple of weeks, and in general it is definitely going to be a busy time, since Spring Break is right around the corner, in a few weeks. I’ll do my best on Wednesday, and I will update how everything goes next week!
