“Work now, play later” is an interesting phrase that I came across in ninth grade in my Spanish class, when one of my classmates blurted it out as a joke. As I think about it now, I believe it’s very realistic and applicable to my life in and outside of school. I had a great Thanksgiving break. I got to see my friends whom I had not seen since summer, and I got to spend quality time with my family. Most importantly, I was able to use the time to relax and take a break from school. Now that I am back, I need to be back in full swing and continue working diligently until the end of the semester. The Original Work project is due next week, and I am on track to finishing it. I need to properly log in my hours towards Original Work that I completed over Thanksgiving Break, because I did not log in anything, and even before the break a lot of hours were not logged in. Before Thanksgiving Break, I had an interview with a professor in bioinformatics. I got to learn about some of his research more in depth and I also learned about what his work day consists of. It was a very informative and fun learning experience for me. As of right now, I still do not have a mentor as I had planned earlier. Updates on mentorship will be provided as soon as possible. I’m going to continue working hard as I look forward to Winter Break!
