It has been another very busy week. In ISM, for my assessment of the week I chose to center my research and research article on cancer prevention - through diet. I was looking for cancer and disease prevention articles, and I came across that article, so I thought it would be interesting to read it. The article talked about how a person’s diet could influence their health. One of the key points that I learned from reading the article is that often, it is not a few foods or nutrients that cause disease, but rather, the diet overall. Sometimes, there may be excessive amounts of food in a diet that could cause problems, but most of the time, people who have health issues generally do not have a balanced diet overall. I thought this would be interesting and different to read about because it looked at disease prevention from an angle which I had not thought of before, which is diet. This week I also am getting in touch with my mentors to set up mentor visits. I am excited to go on mentor visits, and even though some of them will have to be virtual, I know I will learn a lot. I’ll update next week if I have any mentor visits scheduled.
